When most other dry foods claim to use ‘fresh chicken’, they’re often using stripped carcass, a by-product from the human food chain. They usually add ‘chicken meal’, a processed powdered ingredient that’s not fit for human consumption, and label it as ‘dried chicken’.
We only use whole free range chickens in our recipes, so your pet gets all the best meat cuts. Our birds are reared on free range farms to the highest welfare standards.

Gently cooked to lock in the flavour and goodness
Most dry food is cooked quickly using steam pressure (called extrusion), but McAdams is made differently. We gently bake our ingredients at low temperatures. McAdams is ideal for dogs who have sensitive digestive systems, as it’s free from meat meal and grains. It’s also a great alternative to a raw diet as it’s very digestible.
Sustainably sourced meat and fish for our recipes
As an ethical pet food company, you can be sure the chicken and turkey we use is free range and from British farms. It’s 100% real meat too – meaning we never use stripped carcass or add meat meal. We work closely with farmers to ensure high welfare standards – all our farms are DEFRA Approved and inspected. We also only use Alaskan Salmon that’s certified by the Marine Stewardship Council and been given it’s MSC approved label.
Green-lipped mussel to keep joints healthy
New Zealand is home to green-lipped mussels where they’re abundant on the rocks around its coastline. They’re a fantastic source of glucosamine, chondroitin and marine lipids, which are important for healthy joints, so we gently bake them with our free range chicken and turkey.
Hand-cut Irish seaweed that’s rich in omega-3s
Our kelp farmers have been cutting seaweed from the coastal waters around Ireland for generations. A true superfood, seaweed is naturally rich in iodine, which is important for a strong glandular system, and a fantastic source of omega-3s, including DHA which is essential for brain development.
Sweet Potato: High in fibre, vitamins and minerals, these antioxidant-rich vegetables are good for gut health and a great source of slow-release carbohydrates to keep your pet fuller for longer.
Carrots & Lentils: Carrots are important for healthy eyes, skin and coat, and rich in vitamin A for a thriving immune system. Lentils are abundant in fibre, protein and B vitamins.
Cranberries & Tomatoes: Antioxidant-rich cranberries are packed with vitamin A, B1, B2 and C. They also support a healthy urinary tract and protect against bladder infections. Tomatoes are excellent for fibre and vitamins A, C and K.
Lavender & Rosemary: We add lavender to soothe itchy or irritated skin and rosemary to protect against gastrointestinal infections.
Yucca: This plant ingredient helps your pet’s body remove toxins and reduces odour from urine and faeces.
Chamomile: Soothing chamomile has been used as a traditional remedy for centuries and is also good for reducing stress in nervous or anxious dogs.

Can I switch straight away?
Yes, your lucky dog will be grateful if you switch when you can. We recommend switching over the course of a few days and phasing them onto McAdams Food. Our recipes are super digestible and transition period minimises the chance of any stomach upsets as they adjust to a new nutritious diet.

Please use the quantities below as a guide, and adjust your dog’s meal size accordingly if you feel that your dog is either losing or gaining weight. Most dogs prefer their daily amount to be split between two meals.
